Cardboard shoes anyone?

UK-based artist Mark O'Brien who describes himself as a 'crazy cardboard craftsman' and has found a unique way of recycling corrugated beer cardboard boxes by reshaping them into stylish shoes. The Leeds Metropolitan University graduate's three-dimensional cardboard shoes are all modelled after footwear designs that O'Brien loves but can't afford.

"I use cardboard boxes to play in a creative, serious and communicative way," says O'Brien. "I take care to make my objects accurate, tactile and robust to make them interesting and appealing to touch and interact with."

O'Brien has created many different objects, sculptures and artworks using only recycled materials under his MOB Cardboard label including, a Canon camera, a sheriff's hat and a plane; and he has worked for NOISE Festival and Greater Manchester Police on two window displays in central Manchester.
